I don't think I could make it in the city but thats a failing on my part because I do love it down there.

Good luck in your new adventures IM7!!!!
Thanks! I still have to do a ton of packing after my last day of work today. Not going to be fun at all.

I'll still be around the forum though trying to persuade people that Syracuse isn't as amazing as the posters here claim.

You'll have a heavy dose of sunshine and warmth to send you off! lol

And *again*- it's not that Syracuse is amazing, in and of itself... but for some people, including me, it's a great place to be! It... the landscape, social scenes, housing market, low COL, jobs, and people... supports exactly the kind of lifestyle *we* enjoy. Others aren't us and I don't demand they be... you're not happy with the lifestyle here so you're moving. That makes perfect sense. But truly- certain "tones" in the writing of some naysayers (and only some), including you, comes off as judging our preferred lifestyle as exceptionally inferior to your own preferences. And THAT is why I become defensive. We are, I assure you, very aware that this is not a major metropolitan area like NY or Chicago... that's why we live *here.*

I hope you're able to seamlessly get through the next several days of packing and moving and setting up though- good luck!

I'm definitely taking advantage of this weather... a beer and grilled chicken sort of day, for sure.

I found a set of old french doors at the flea market on Sunday. They're in awful shape now but at $8 for BOTH, a LOT of tlc is well worth my while- I'm covered in dust from cutting and sanding but they'll be gorgeous in the kitchen-dining room entry. Mama doesn't like children in her kitchen. haha - I picked up bolts for both sides before I even thought of hinges.

I am back and if you look at the 10 day forecast, you will see that this trip was no exception. Hope you enjoyed it while it lasted.

You still have today and tomorrow to burn yourself in the warmth and sunshine? lol - next week looks about like normal... 30-40% chance of rain everyday, with the sun shining intermittently.

I want to gather all of you naysayers up and show you my Syracuse world! lol - it's likely because I grew up here but I appreciate the clouds (I hate squinting in sunshine) and we all go out to play in the rain. It's just water, after all.

In keeping with the "chatter" theme of this thread... the doors I've been working on are below. I removed a ton of junky hardware, cut 4-6 off on each side of each door (just barely missing the glass panels), sanded and painted them. (Painted sloppily because being careful of the glass is too time-consuming, so the scrapings are on the floor.)

Love the result! Just have to add the handles and bolts, to keep the children out of the kitchen when I NEED them be (and the heat out of the rest of the house during summer cooking-baking)...

Sorta before (had already removed the hardware, cut off the sides, sanded and hung them)

And sorta after... still need to put on the handles and bolts.

Obviously- I found my camera cord (right where it SHOULD be so why would I look there lol)... the picture I took right after reading IMJ's "we're leafless!" post

Obviously, not leafless. And even less so now, with so much sunshine and heat to draw the leaves out even more gloriously!

Great job on them door ProFam!!!

Looking out the window I'd say about 50/50 for leaves here. We are still a couple weeks from the frost date so I'm not surprised.

All week at work I'd see glimpses of the Sun shining and just know it would be over on Friday.

I feel bad for anyone who has Friday off and is affected by my bad luck.

Sorry<HUGE sigh followed by a sniff>

On a plus note I'm buying a smokers today which should kick ass!!!!!! Anyone wants some Limp Seansaur let me know.

Today I have to head to Utica and am not sure where to get a good brisket. Anyone know a place?? Sams actually has good meat while Walmart sucks go figger right LOL. But no Sams in Utica and I'm not a BJ's member.

I'm relieved for some rain... I started seeds last week and the partially-busted seeds are looking angry. I know, I know- I should have watered them... I should water them *right now.* But I know I won't.

This is why I only plant for the outdoors, where God can water and take care of them (or not.) *I* sure as he!! won't. lol
