I have never been crazy about this kind of metric, since "in your city" depends on whether you mean core city, core "loop", core county, first ring suburb, second ring suburb, exurb, satellite city/town/village, rural within MSA, within CSA, etc etc...
For example, in central Houston land values alone are well over 400k for a 5000 sq ft LOT, let alone a home. Sugar Land is a separate city, 20 miles from central Houston.
Also, the location of that particular house is considered to be at severe risk for future flooding - 82% chance in the next 15 years, per the listing.

In my town? Nothing. In affordable parts of my county (Palm Beach County, FL), perhaps a small dated ranch in a questionable area. Starter fixer upper.
Location: East of Seattle since 1992, 615' Elevation, Zone 8b - originally from SF Bay Area

There might be an older, fixer condo in that price range, but I doubt it. Our median now is at $1.58 million. I've just done a quick search of condos, though there are not that many here, and the cheapest is $435, built in 1995, 1,060 sf. This is in a less expensive area annexed to our city in 2016. In the greater city there are no condos for sale currently, and the cheapest house is at $849,000, but you can by an empty lot for just $500k.

Speaking of Sugar Land, I was always amazed about my aunt’s story. She lived there a couple years circa 2003 and loved her house. She bought the plan and rebuilt it when she moved back to Raleigh. North of 540, so not even in the city. Between land and labor, it cost her twice as much. For a good deal on a house, go Texas.

Yep total package. It's not like you're living in Kansas either. Texas is a good place.
