No, the property is not in Newport. They were annexed before we were. I'm in one of the "donut holes" around the city where one block (or one property) is in the city and the next is in the county.

Ho Hum, high speed internet standard Comporium rates going up $1.50 July 1st or 3.19%. Retired persons and others got a cost of living adjustment of around 2% in January. Comporium can not even stay at the rate if inflation. And there was a rate increase on something at Comporium just recently, maybe around Feb.

I saw an article that city of rock hill is going to charge more for electricity. Apparently, every year it costs more to make electricity...even though the dam and nuclear plant were built a long time ago. Duke is doing same thing

And ... the York County Council is considering raising property tax.

In the past two months, three times TW offered to send field technicians to our new location in the Clover area, to see if they would service our new residence.

Three times, TW dropped the ball.

The only problem I have with Comporium, is that the cost for their services are often much higher than their (would be) competition.

It's so high, that people are seeking alternatives - a foolish strategy that will hurt them in the end.

I am not sure if someone else said this, I started to scan the last two pages.

I believe Comporium needs competition, they don't have to work for their customers now, they just come to them so why should they care about providing good service? Competition is healthy and I think they need that in order to step up their services and customer service. I wonder what they are investing their profits in, if they support the family or if they are just not investing in the right technologies.

I have been a customer of a smaller cable company before that provided better services and products than Comporium and in a higher taxed and higher regulated state, they even had decent pricing, I had no complaints about them. Comporium falls way behind our former provider.

Just my 2 cents.

Comporium does make changes... they have raised their cable modem speeds several times without changing rates. They have this new 'readyhome' service (which I haven't looked into because it is probably overpriced). So it not like they are doing nothing. But with competition/choice it could be even better
