I read somewhere, maybe Wikipedia, that a few alligators have been found in Lake Wylie. I also heard the lake is not very clean. Is there any truth to these stories?

Never seen an alligator in the Catawba River, but the local media has reported alligator sightings. I don't know of any congregation of alligators. Actually I have only seen two news reports in the last few years.

Check out Catawba Riverkeepers website. Tega Cay has had quite a few accidents with raw sewage dumps in the river, not residents fault but outside company that city has contract with. At one time there was a warning from DHEC we had high mercury levels in large mouth bass. But I don't eat fish and if I did wouldn't eat fish from the river.
