Where in Miami or Hollywood or Fort Lauderdale, for that matter - can you get Alligator meat served without having to pay tourist (Dumb4$$)prices? Obviously Coopertown's $17 Gator-McNuggets are just a little pricey, and wouldn't it be cool to have something that isn't breaded - perhaps maybe sauteed so that you could actually taste the alligator meat. Any good restaurants?

I tried Alligator meat for the first time at Voo Doo Daddy's Kitchen in Arizona, and I thought it was awful. Breaded, salty... and certainly tasted.... swampy. We paid about $8 for an appetizer sized portion, not sure what the prices "should" be. Glad you enjoy it....

Alligator Alley in Ft. Lauderdale is a good start
Food & Drink - ALLIGATOR ALLEY Native Florida Taproom~BBQ~Music Hall, Oakland Park (Fort Lauderdale), Florida (http://www.alligatoralleyflorida.com/fooddrink.php - broken link)

Also try the alligator "hot dogs" they serve at most riverboat cruises along the everglades

Alligator and Shark are two foods I tried once a will never crave again. Its no wonder most of the time u will find these meats breaded and deep fried because they taste awful and anything to mask the taste helps.

I've had alligator at the Coconut Grove Arts Festival for like the last 5 or 6 years, however this last year the stand that served it was missing. When I ate it at the 08 festival the meat was totally different from the other years I had eaten it,it was rough and chewy and pretty unedible,so it not being there this year didn't bother me much. The other years I thought it was pretty good, like tastier chicken nuggets.
