I guess if no-one else is going to answer this, I might as well be the one...

Please, anyone can join and answer these questions! We welcome new people to this trivia!

The record high was 115 degrees in Basin on August 8th 1983. One report states 116 degrees on the 12 of July 1900 in Bitter Creek.

The record low was minus 66 degrees in Riverside on February 9, 1933. One report stated Yellowstone on the same day.

The record highest annual precipitation was at the Grassy Lake Dam in western Wyoming with 55.46 inches.

The record lowest annual precipitation was in Lysite in 1960 with 1.28 inches.

Close enough, your turn.

Quote:
High and Low Temperature Extremes: UNITED STATES EXTREME RECORD TEMPERATURES & RANGES

-66Feb. 9, 1933Riverside R.S.6,500' elevation

115July 12, 1900 (?1983?) Basin 3,500' elevation
181 degrees difference. Only two states had a higher range of differences between the highs and lows.

I have some curious differences in my references regarding the highest and lowest annual precipitation from this website. Perhaps they confused inches with centimeters?? Annual Wyoming rainfall

They said:
Quote:
Wettest location ranked by highest annual precipitation: Snake River, western Wyoming, 31.54"
Driest location ranked by lowest annual precipitation: Lysite, central Wyoming, 5.11"
State precipitation record for 1 year - Grassy Lake Dam, western Wyoming, 1945, 55.46"
I cannot explain the differences.

Go ahead, it's your turn.

Our team will consist of players from surrounding communities Rock Springs, Green River, Evanston, Mt. View, and Kemmerer. We are all small towns with rich football traditions looking to make a lot of noise in our first season as a member of the Rocky Mountain Football league.

Peter Bakwin Sets New Speed Record On Gannett Peak (http://www.tetonat.com/2009/08/peter-bakwin-sets-new-speed-record-on-gannett-peak/ - broken link)

by randosteve August 9th, 2009
", on August 4th, the new speed record, or FKT (Fastest Known Time), was set for Gannett Peak by 47 year old Boulderite, Peter Bakwin. Using the closest free access point from the Green River Lakes trailhead ($100 each way will get the white-man a shuttle to the Cold Springs trailhead in the Wind River Indian Reservation on the east side of the range), Peter made a solo effort via the Highline Trail/Tourist Creek/Minor Glacier route…36 miles round trip. His CTC (car-to-car) time was 12:39:29."

LOL, those are both good guesses FroggieLegs, but not what I was looking for.

Hint: It was "Wyoming" who broke the speed record on July 19, ______ . SHE is not as big as Heart Mountain, but SHE is really big.
