When i posted my triva question i did not know this was part of the history of the Johnson County War. John Nolan was also killed later by the cattle barons.
My question that started the Johnson county war below!/triva that is!

There is a town in WY. that was named after a rancher-but not his name.
Tell me who the rancher is and the name of the town
sorry its not 2dot either

I don't know if we will ever know the whole story or the real truth of the matter as both sides (i.e. the cattle barons and the homesteaders) seem to feel their side is the only truth.

I would tend to believe the homesteaders over the cattel barons myself as it's seems as if most of the ugliness came from the cattle barons. The only real bad thing the homesteaders did was throw a long rope and took posession of mavericks to build their herds. Whereas the cattle barons hired guns to kill and threaten the homesteaders for taking mavericks. But hey if a cow isn't branded it technically dosen't belong to anyone and it's fair game for the taking. The person who throws the longest rope gets to take it home and claim it. Maybe instead of hiring guns the cattle barons should have hired more ranch help to make sure all their cattle was branded.

do i need a deer tag with the wabbit tag-or is this together?
Here's the information I got. I don't know how accurate it is:

"Each year, the Douglas Chamber of Commerce also issues thousands of jackalope hunting licenses, despite rules specifying that the hunter cannot have an IQ higher than 72 and can hunt only between midnight and 2 a.m. each June 31st."

I'd check with the Chamber. (http://www.jackalope.org/Douglas/DouglasJackalope.html - broken link)

Starting in 1822, 100's of early travelers, settlers, and trappers carved their names into the limestone cliffs. This left a permanent record of thier passage through the area. That section is now called Names Hill.

Just for reference. Nate Champion was a cow hand on the TA ranch where the battle took place. I don't know who the ranch owner/leaser was. When the 200+ army from Buffalo arrived, they shot and killed Nate. Although they killed him, it was a standoff until the Cavalry showed up to end it. 49 of the Buffalo Army were arrested and taken to Fort Russel and held them for 3 years. No one, was ever charged. They were eventually released.
