Haha! Thanks for the laugh, EH! We almost visited your neck of Wyoming the other day. We took a trip up to Medicine Wheel....but ran out of time. We'll visit Sheridan soon enough! Can't wait to explore even more of Wyoming.

And that's why some people define Wyoming as a big spread out, sparsely populated city. When I first moved to Wyoming I was in the newspaper business, and it didn't take long before I knew people from every newspaper in the state. Within a year, no matter where my travels took me in Wyoming, I knew someone in that town. I didn't attend UW, but I have attended many UW football games. I've never been to one without running into people I know.

I'm 60 years old. A while back I met this little girl and she was saying she was a greenhorn. I said, "I believe in the future of farming with a faith born, not of words, but of deeds, I believe that to work or live on a good farm, or to be engaged....". Her and her folks couldnt believe I could resite the entire creed. Its been 40+ years and it is still near and dear.

I would love to spend a month or so in the Powell area. Are there ever any homes for rent during the summer? I would have two small dogs with me.

See if you can 'pet/house-sit' for someone going on vacation during the months you want to come.

Several of our guests from Hospitality club guest homes, house sit all over the world and they brought their pets for a 6 month stint in Prescott AZ.

The guest home directory web sites often have listings for house sit opportunities.

You can also post your interest at local library / employee center at College. or senior center / services or churches. I have had luck at all the above.

The ''Powell Tribune'' is a good place to start. It will give you an idea of available properties and rents. It can be hard to find a landlord who will take dogs, but you'll find someone. Strong credit is their main criterion and I'm sure you have that. I'm including a link for the Cody paper as well. I suggest that you make a trip before you rent a place to make sure that it will suit you.

I live forty miles from Powell so I'm not familiar with specific area; there are some rural areas near Powell that you may like as well. It would be worthwhile to call some realtors a couple of months before you plan to visit. Some do property management; they may also have homes that are vacant and have been on the market for a while and the owners would like to pick up some cash.

Be sure to have your dogs vaccinated for venomnous snakes if they're not vaccinated. The Prairie Rattler, Crotalus v. viridis, is common here and while it doesn't have the most potent venom, bites can be fatal. Both of mine were bitten two years ago, but they were both vaccinated and recovered easily.

Try posting on the Facebook classifieds pages. Powell Valley Exchange and Powell Area Classifieds have tons of people on them. You could also post on Cody Area Classifieds. The best advertising I have ever used is the free venue of Facebook.

I know quite a few people who can still recite that entire creed years after they were in FFA.

How would the commute to Cody be during the winter? I have an interview with Westpark next week and need to start thinking about where I might live. Is it unrealistic to live in Powell and work in Cody?

nope, real easy commute, good highway, good roads no weather to speak of and just about the time you think about setting your cruise control you are tapping your brakes and entering town.

get more for your $ in powell or Ralston than cody but go spend a few days in powell and see if is your flavor. I like it but not enough to live there, though we go there several times a week to shop or poke around.

good luck on your job interview, westpark is a very good place to be. best of luck.
