In response, I was tempted to state that there is likely a disparity in salaries, depending on whether the teachers in question know the difference between plurals and possessives, but I restrained myself.

I should get an award for all the restraining I do around the Internets.

Somebody call Lysenko. Stop the presses!
I noticed that both errors was corrected in one newspaper, but not another.

Both errors are uncorrected here:

Thunder give families a happy Christmas - Muskogee Phoenix: Local Sports

But both are corrected here:

Thunder players treat struggling families to shopping spree - Norman Transcript: Sports

Both still include the first paragraph:

Barbara Jeffrey sat on a chair at the end of the cash register counter resting.

Is she resting on the counter? Is the chair on the counter? What is counter resting?

Who had just went? Three grand kids? Counter resting?

Trained journalists can't get jobs, but they will hire "writers" who can't put a decent paragraph together.

Isn't that short for mathematics? They call it "maths" in Europe.

Those of us in The US usually hear "maths" only from the mouths of those who originated on the Indian subcontinent.

From a discussion of the menu for Christmas Dinner:

"I am making...as well as cinnamon roles....which I probably won'eat because I get sick of food when I cook."

Hmmm...Role-playing as a part of food preparation...
I never considered that to be part of the process, but..

Cinnamon rolls do play the cinnamon roles required this time of year.
