Not to be too judgmental or personal, but they are very redneck-ish, and wine about the government and about life all the time, and it's not my kind of company I want to keep a lot, or at least not once a year even.

McMansions are now being built like the old 'NYC railroad apartments'? Wow! They must be 200 feet long!

Out here in the west, there are actually such things as track houses. The railroads built them for their workers. But the houses weren't always next to the railroad tracks; most were only close enough to be convenient. They are like row houses in the east, and local real estate agents still refer them as such.

So out here, a track house carries a different meaning, but probably one that wasn't intended by the original poster.

...fell, could not get up, and drug herself down the hall to the next apt....

We may have to give up - like we did with "sneaked" and "snuk" - and allow "drug" into the drag conjugation. I've seen this hundreds of times.
