My grandparents lived in a typical New England 3 family, with an open porch on the back. A clothesline ran from the porch. Anyway, my grandmother called this porch, "the piazza." Such a grand and exotic name for a back porch with a clothesline running off of it.
I recall around the age of 13 being home alone. I called my grandma since she was sitting with an ill friend. I needed to go buy milk. She said "Ohh its in the 'kitty'. I was like okay why did the cat we have swollow the money? I was like, there is no way I am chasing that cat around the house in hopes it expels the money!
She got home later that night...tired and haggard. SHe went to get milk for her tea. She asked why I didn't buy the milk. I told her my side of the tale. She laughed so hard! She said, Ohhh I should have told you in the cupboard is a "can" where I keep emergency money. I call it the Kitty. Who knew! (obviously not me )
