But come on, how can you possibly try to find some sort of pattern like that. I could understand with countries like the US, China, etc, but in Europe it's all rather random for all those countries. It's only meaningful for some countries where there are easily identifiable north/south divisions like the UK, France, Spain, Italy. But seriously, north or south Hungary? What about north and south Monaco? Oh I much prefer the eastern side of the Vatican city.
Yeah I thought Budapest was near the centre...but yeah, east or West Chile? Lol, i.e. mountains or coast, I suppose. I could maybe pick favourite regions, but I doubt I could generalise about entire geographical compass directions.

I have excluded very small countries (in land size), like Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, as they are hard and not that interesting to rate.

I might've...
Depends what your looking for in Finland. All the major cities are in the west and 70% of the population, but it's mostly farmland, mixed forest and flat, and coasts. In the east are most of the large lakes, hiking trails, rolling hills, wilderness and taiga. So if you're for cities and museums = west, for nature = east.
Norway is a trickier one. Many mountains are in the center, and both the southeast and west has fjords. The east has Oslo, the west has the Atlantic coast.
For me for Mexico, I would choose the central/western region. I chose it since it has nice traditional cities as well as cities with many amenities that still have their charm such as Guanajuato, Leon, Morelia and Guadalajara. Also there's Mexico City.
For USA at this point I would choose, South and West...unpopular choice. Maybe I would change my mind if I were in the Northeast or the eastern half of the USA. Thing is, I like the wide open spaces the western US has. Even in it's cities things are more spread out (except for San Francisco). I see NYC and other cities in the East and it looks uncomfortable and crowded.
For China, I would choose maybe southeastern China for living.
Japan, south
Brazil South
Colombia, North
Chile North
Argentina North
South Korea South
South Africa, Southwest
Australia New South Wales
