I was fired just like that, no warning, no write up, nothing, just fired, reason---wasn't selling enough, talk time too long, when it was just one long call with a Chinese who thought I should somehow translate for her. And dear call center manager, we aren't
wandering" if we need to stand up once in awhile, I see you do it all the time. Try sitting glued to a phone without a bathroom break, a bursting bladder, calls thrown at you so fast you can;'t catch your breath, then go on your power kick, especially in this economy, many people in call centers are laid off professionals (I'm a CPA) desperate to pay our bills, you'r just some white trash on a power kick! Feel good? It won't last, the economy will turn around and put you back in your place!
When you are saying not selling enough what do you mean by that? Do you have a certain goal that you never meet?
So where you the only one that didn't make it or do they fire dozens of people every month? It just make no sense. When I took the assessment test today they never mentioned to push selling that much. They want you to offer their services such as mortgage, investments. line of credit but thats all.
Merlot, I wouldn't worry about it. Most banks are not into the "hard-sell", they are into making sure their customers are satisfied and not pulling their money out.
I don't work in banking at this time, however, we never fire anyone for performance. Other places I have worked, you can be whats typically called a "Needs Improvement" or "Unsatisfactory" for months before you are termed. Usually, they put you on a performance or coaching plan, which takes a while to see through. Even for attendance, for what people usually get fired here for, there is a stepped process, a verbal warning, written, final written, termination.
It is not a bad gig, especially if you need a decent paying job with good benefits.
Umm.. ok. That is not every call center, at all. We do have people wandering, and, where I work, we need to have so many people on at certain times. We never stop anyone from using the bathroom or anything like that. Sometimes we are very busy, other times we are dead, it just depends.
Sorry if you are laid off. How that makes me "white trash", though, I am not sure. How do you even know my ethnicity? I am in no way shape or form on a power kick, I just happen to be very good at my job. Our site went through layoffs already, and, well, I am still standing.
Don't forget to wear your power suit! LOL. Good luck.
You'll be fine. Not all call centers are alike, if its just CS, that's different, but they probably will want you to upsell, say, a customer calls in for his balance, and you're supposed to push identity theft insurance, or something like that. But you'll be ok, I'm sure, I just had a ***** for a supervisor, on a power kick, I found out later she was high most days, loved to "kick butt" I should have filed an EEOC complaint, but figured it wasn't worth the hassle.
Good luck!
