I'm kinda underemployed right now. I'm not used to working just 20 hours a week, but it's all I can find right now. I'm gonna keep searching for a second job.
Well, I got lucky! Yesterday I found a job opening that I could definitely do and I faxed and e-mailed my resume' to the company HR. I just wanted to make sure they got my resume! Years ago, when companies had people come to the company to fill out an App/drop off resume', I knew the company got it. Today, sometimes either a fax or e-mail doesn't go thru.
Anyway, hoping for a possible "in person" interview........haven't had an "in person" interview for a year now. In fact, wife and I are considering moving from here to somewhere where BOTH of us can get a job!
I have an interview this week with a great company (benefits start day one!!) but I'm nervous. I'm trying to brush up on my interview skills and have begun to write down my potential questions for the interviewer(s). I am trying not to think about it too much or get my hopes up.
Good Luck everyone and may we all get phone calls this week for an interview this week!!!
Well, a lady in HR called me and asked how my experience related with their job opening of Associate Buyer. I told her my last two jobs (12 yrs) directly related with the position. Also told her that I'm currently taking an online class in Distribution & Logistics Management. She didn't say a word to me about that, but I figured that was a nice little "plus" for my resume (that I'd bring up).
Anyway, since we don't have a home phone, only have two cell phones, she was having a hard time hearing me towards the end of the conversation. Our cell phones are a almost 2 yrs old and I can pretty much only hear people using the "speaker phone". She asked me "could you come in for an interview?", but she did hear me say "yes, anytime this week is fine". I think she was getting a little annoyed that the connection wasn't that good. I didn't hear anything, so I said "are you still there?". She said, "I will call you back when we can have a better connection and schedule you for an interview." I said, "ok" and that was it. I've got her phone number on my cell phone and if I don't hear from her by late tomorrow morning, I will call her tomorrow afternoon. What have I got to lose? I've learned that I don't like waiting around to be called!! I don't want to give this lady all of my "power"! Don't ask me about an interview than just cut me off and tell me you'll get back to me........BULL on that crap!! I want a job, but don't play those "interview games".

I would seriously considering upgrading to a better phone if you are going to depend on it for potential employers to contact you. If your phone is that old, you can usually get a very cheap or free upgrade to a better phone. Check with your provider.
My father had a cell phone that had a terrible speaker. He knew it and always apologized, but it got to the point where I just said "uh huh" to whatever he was saying because it was so annoying. And he did alot of his business from it. Crazy. He finally got a better one.
I would call her back from a land line. I wouldn't wait for her to call me. Just say you understand the connection wasn't the greatest so you wanted to follow up with her regarding the interview time and date.
