The ue rate is 4.2 % and lower than that in the greater Boston and NYC areas. I say this because at no time in history were these rates in these MSAs ever that low so it is kind of assumed if you are unemployed for any period of time it is for good reason.

There are many jobs out there (white collar, Corporate near or over six figure) but there are so many eliminating factors. Gaps in employment, currently unemployed, doesn't have exact industry experience, doesn't have years of experience in pick the latest buzz word - dev ops, Sass, big data other than academic or self learning = elimination, person out of work and appears to be in their 40s =elimination. All these hiring managers and morally self righteous types who say there are tons of jobs know that what I have said is 100 % true. God forbid someone took time off and isn't the textbook millennial who spent a year backpacking in Europe or whatever, that persons Resume gets immediately deleted

Oh I forgot bad credit is another eliminating factor. Somehow having a foreclosure is 'ok' but too much charged off unsecured credit card debt means irresponsible and bad character now and not as socially accepted as having one or multiple foreclosures if one has bad credit

I am a hiring manager. I have noticed fewer applicants for each job I post, and the qualification levels are dropping.

That's fine, I can deal with that. I have never required crazy levels of qualifications, and I am willing to overlook some things. I don't care about gaps in employment, as long as the candidate explains what they have been doing. I don't care much about credit, unless they have signing authority on funds. I recently hired a guy with a felony record, but he served his time and has had a clean record for years.

I was temporarily unemployed for a short time due to the sudden lack of work at a previous employer. I found another job with better benefits, pay, and everything else within 2 weeks.

Of course those are sometimes factors, but many around these forums won't admit to it. Instead they will say that their company doesn't factor in those things, but they are forgetting that "some" employers do factor those things in. So what you stated was in fact a truth to some degree.

Thank you for pointing that out. I was hoping that somebody would.

Yes, I did mention my practice and that of my employer. Yes, this is contrary to what most posters on this thread are saying, and that is exactly the point. When posters categorically condemn all employers they are obviously wrong and make themselves look foolish.

It would be nice if the posters on this forum could deal with reality, rather than instantly becoming overwrought.

There may as well be no jobs out there because the "jobs" that are out there you can barely survive on or they get a good corporate job and get let go in a year or two due to "expense cut, downsizing" . Then you get these stupid stories like "Why aren't millennials buying houses, cars and still living at home. etc"


Hmmmm.... I wonder why?? Amazing how out of touch this country is. Too many morons are procreating. There needs to be a law/fine/penalty against this

The older, experienced workers should be the managers training the younger workers. That's how it used to work. Now the young workers are managers who do their thing, often doing it wrong, while those who have more knowledge are shut out of the job market. It's messed up.
