A friend is looking for some babysitting jobs.

And i wondered if rates were any good but it's crazy

I mean can anybody live with these low payments?

Anybody doing this for life here?

How many kids are you babysitting and how much you're making?

Looks very interesting.

Or everybody thinks this is just a side income for college kids

We pay $24/hour (sitter gets $18) for two kids. Agency-runOne has special needs (Autism). You can make a fair bit more if you are willing to work with special needs. She is in her 4th year of teaching degree. Some families will pay more for sitters with strong childcare background/quals. Just a thought!

The wife of a ex-coworker has a home day care and I guess it's more than baby sitting. She had twins 2 years ago and after her 8 weeks of maternity leave plus an extra 4 weeks of short term disability due to some complications, she did not wan't to send her babies to daycare, so she never wen't back to work after maternity leave. She's taking care of 3 toddlers and charge $150 dollars a week and 4 after school kids that the bus driver drops around 2:30PM and their parents pick them up from her house between 6:00PM and 6:30PM and she charge them $75 dollars a week. So she usually make $750 a week. She does not have to pay for daycare for her twins and she save on gas money. She said her gross pay while she was working was $984 a week and her net pay after all the deductions was $722. With all that said, she has a 2 income household and her husband who is a developer at Turner Broadcasting where I used to work has to be making at least $80000 a year. Also, a nice house in the Atlanta suburb was still very much affordable in 2012 when they purchased their home. So my advice if anyone going to do this it's best that it's a 2 income household.
