I have been asked to watch 6 children ranging from the age of 3 to 10 years-old in the parents home, monday t0 friday 8 hours a day all summer, my two children a 2 year and 6 year will be going with me each day. I was offered 400.00 a week. please me know if you think the amount is enough? being that all i have to do is watch them and feed them the food that is already there. I really do not know what the common rate for pa is. We are in hamlin area???? any information will be helpful

When I was paying for private child care, not in my home, for my infant daughter, I was paying $200/wk + my own food. We also had an agreement that if she didn't watch my daughter (sick, vacation, whatever), I didn't have to pay. That was also 7 years ago in NJ. Not sure if this helps...

I might ask for maybe $500....6 kids...WOW!!!. Good luck!!

I charge between $100 and $150 a week in my own home for infants. This is in Tunkhannock.
Back in NJ I did get paid alot more to take care of infants in my home. I got about $8.00 an hour.. that was 12 years ago too.
It's much different here in PA because the payscale for the parents is much less than NY or NJ. I try to be fair with the price.
$400.00 is a bit low for that many children.

That is a great rate. When my mom babysat for a little boy down the road, she was only getting $3.00 an hour or $30.00 a day. The girl actually found a daycare center in Nanticoke that only charges $100 a week and that includes lunch. 8 children are very hard to handle. Good luck to you.

6 kids and 4 are not yours, in one house everyday.......There is not enough tea in china or money in their checkbook for me to do that. I have 9yr boy and my house is grand central everyday after school, could not begin to imagine what kind of sedatives I would need to do what your being ask to do.

Honestly I wouldn't take a penny under $500 + benefits. The benies will help cover the cost of the therapist your going to need by the end of the summer.

I have a feeling we might just be seeing our new friend on television sometime soon talking to this fellow:

We live in the Hamlin area, and the rate for a 1-2 year old is $30/day, 3-4 year old is $25/day for full days. There arent rates for the older kids but at that schedule it would probably be about $20/day since they are pretty self-sufficient. So depending on how difficult the kids are and how crazy they are going to drive you, I'd say that might not be enough money. Good luck, better you than me for sure!

All I can say is good luck and bless you! I could never watch that many children at one time. I got tired just reading about it!

I think she said 6 kids and 2 were hers which would make it "8" not 6 total....
