Hi, I am new to Charlotte and I have a 7 month old. I am going back to work in a few weeks and I'm looking for a mom who is watching her child/children and can watch my 7 month old for about 3-4 hours a day 6 days a week. I am currently interviewing moms with toddlers in and around my complex to make it more convenient for to drop off & pick up my son. What would be a reasonable weekly rate to offer? I read that hourly rates are around 10/hr and daycare is 160-170/week. What would be a reasonable amount of money to offer for about 25 hours a week given that I will provide all the food/snacks & she will not have to travel or do anything that she wouldn't do with her child/children?

Hourly rate of $10+ is for child care providers to come to your home. If you drop off a child at a Mom's house the rate is significantly less. If you search craigslist you can get an idea of what some local Mom's charge.

We only pay $8/hr for someone to watch our three kids and have no problem getting babysitters. Granted this is mostly at night and the kids go to bed a couple hours after they are there but I think $10 is too much.

$10 is average for a 7 month old that is active, meaning it isn't at night sleeping for the most part.

For 25 hours a week and going to someone's house would be about $200-$225

Remember you don't want to get the cheapest as this is your kid. And instead of looking for a mom with kids, I would think an older lady would be a better fit OR a mom with no kids at home during the day (at school) etc. And invest in a criminal report on ALL the adults in the home.

Now when the kid is walking then the price should go down alot weekly. But right now a 7 month old requires alot of work, naps, changing diapers, hand feeding, being carried and making sure he or she isn't eating stuff off the floor etc. LOL Aah the joys!
