Sure it is-in their current role. Better performing consultants are paid better, their bonuses are higher, they are usually assigned to better jobs (easier clients to work with, reduced travel, intellectually rewarding high impact work). But, very few of my consultants will make it to the Director level. Different skill sets at play.
