I have never worked fo someone else since I was 21. I'm now retired.
I had a policy of whenever someone gave their notice that I(or their supervisor) would immediately write a honest and positive recommendation. Then I would hand them a check for two weeks pay and whatever vacation pay they had accumulated.
If called by a future employer about them I would not say anything bad about the person.
You wonder why I paid them off and sent them on their way? It is simply because if you are moving on there is no way you will be able to copy contacts, or company secrets to take with you.
I'm moving to another state next month, and I gave my supervisors adequate notice. Since notifying them, one of them has been extremely cold toward me. He has also been giving me more work than I can possibly manage.
I am determined to leave here on good terms with everyone, so I am doing what I can. But it's stressing me out, and I just really wish this would stop. I've always been overworked in my current job, but this is to the point where I can't even focus on anything. Even worse, I don't want to do any of this work. I know I shouldn't burn bridges, but he needs to understand that it is not fair that I am receiving this type of treatment.
I really don't need any added stress considering I'm making quite a few major life changes. I would like some advice on how to handle this since I have never experienced this before.
Thank you in advance.
Don't stress about it. All this should be like water rolling off a duck's back to you. What are they going to do ~ fire you? You are leaving. Do what you can during your workday - go home, live your life and sleep well at night. You are a short-timer.

there's a whole other thread about this but there is a way; you can do all that stuff before you give notice! if people really want to do that, and they know it's your policy to let people go when they give notice, that's what they'll do.
Honestly I would put all that work aside and let them deal with it later. Screw doing extra work! Let him get mad, you already have the new job and a start date, obviously you can't use him as a reference anyways in the future, so why bother.
