I pulled weeds when I was a teenager. At the time, I kind of liked it. However, that was NOT in Texas (it was in Minnesota).
Anyway, now that I'm 36, I would definitely do it in Minnesota or in a climate that wasn't completely insane. I could still do it, physically.
If it was in Texas in summer? Nope.

I wouldn't do it. If I was 18 again, it would be no problem. As a middle aged man, I'll be punished by my back and my chiropractor.

They do it all the time on "reality" tv for millions. I am always amazed by the pointless things that these people do on pointless shows.

Right, but when you were 18 you were making $5 or so, $10 maybe gets you a better car stereo and a couple extra 12 packs each week. Middle age, doubling your salary is significant - but it's a physically harder price to pay. This was why I asked. The older you get, the bigger the financial reward but the bigger price to pay. At 51 I wouldn't do it.

Yes, that's the question. Now quit asking questions and pick that strawberry and put it in the box. OK, good. Now, pick that strawberry and put it in the box. Excellent. There's one right there, got it? Good. Keep going.

Hey, speed it up would you? That 61 year old lady with arthritis is picking twice as fast as you.

Only seven hours and 59 minutes left.

I would, for but only on an organic farm. I'm super healthy and fit, though, mid-30's. I wouldn't do it for more than about 3 - 5 years, though. I feel like your brain would turn to mush if you did that sort of work for too long. But I think the experience of it would be rewarding and even therapeutic in a way.

I watch a lot of documentaries and read a lot of books and PBS/NPR-type articles that talk about farm workers. It's horrible the kind of cancers and health issues a lot of the farm workers face due to the toxic substances used on most conventionally-run farms. Not just in the U.S. - it's a global issue. France has been tackling the issue with regards to various forms of cancers that vineyard workers get from the sprays they use on the vines. I'd definitely only agree to work on a farm that was run organically, ethically, and sustainably, but you couldn't pay me enough to work on a farm that uses dangerous substances that could make me very sick.

I've had low level jobs and high level jobs --- and in my experience the higher the job, the easier it is.

I have a huge amount of respect for all the migrant workers, cleaners, domestics, fast food workers, waitresses out there.

Sure, if I could physically manage it (having already given my back and neck to my current job).

Considering the fact that my current job is tedious and boring, I would do it for double my salary. My current salary is $9 an hour. I would die to have a job that pays $18 an hour. I am 32.
