Just took a drive down to Menomonie for the first time (in memory, maybe I've been there before, but if I have it's been several years). That was maybe a month ago...

Looks like anybody could have a bad experience. I was just in Rice Lake a couple weeks ago to help my parents downsize. I haven't been in the town on a consistent basis in about 6-7 years. That said, it is a small friendly town that appears to have a modest cost of living. Close enough to MPLS and Eau Claire for shopping /entertainment trips. I live in S.Jersey near Philly now and the differences are big with many actually favoring Rice Lake. Great place to bring up a family and live a less hectic lifestyle.
