I am still fairly new to NC, as we have been in Charlotte less than a year and my "not-as-young-as-she-used-to-be" Mom is in from Florida visiting for the holidays.
I would love to take a day trip next weekend to Asheville. I haven't been there yet. Whats a nice way to spend the afternoon there, that wouldn't involve too much walking?
Also, does anyone know if you can rent a wheelchair to tour the Biltmore estate?
Biltmore welcomes guests with disabilities. We offer specially priced tickets and parking assistance for guests with state-issued parking permits. All restrooms, restaurants, and shops are wheelchair accessible, as are much of the gardens, Conservatory, Winery, and Farm Village.
Much of Biltmore House is accessible to guests in wheelchairs, although some areas are not due to the historic architecture of the building. We provide a limited number of wheelchairs for guests who require assistance with their house visit. An elevator transports guests with mobility disabilities to the Second Floor; however, wheelchair access is not available to the Third Floor, Fourth Floor, and Basement.
Our Disabled admission ticket is offered at a reduced price in accordance with the limited access in Biltmore House. Handicapped parking is available next to the Conservatory, providing access to the Walled Garden and Conservatory. There is also a drop-off area and wheelchair access at entrances to the Winery and the Historic Horse Barn.
