I've always taken 85 north to 221 north but a friend said someone from atlanta that goes more frequently takes 85N to I-26 to Highway 74 to 221North- is this easier and faster? what is the town name for the exit for 74?

It will be the first exit in NC, just past the NC Welcome Center on I26.

Google Maps says it's four minutes quicker and nine miles longer to take I-26/US74 instead of going up US221.
