Louisiana is much more liberal with open containers than WNC.
I was referring to hand guns. You are right about open containers though! Just last weekend I was walking around downtown with a beer in both hands. We have drive through daiquiri shops too haha.
I work in Boone and live about 20 minutes away in Ashe Co. Yes, Boone is a college town, which means most come to school here but leave when they graduate to pursue a career. The other half of Boones population is the retirement community. There isn't much in Boone in regards to employment that attracts people to stay. $2000/month will get you a nice place, but a lot of rentals are geared towards the college crowd. That's why I live 20 minutes away. I don't want to be living beside a bunch of parties. I'm a 31 yr old female. I would say its hard to meet women here. Like I said, most will be leaving when they graduate. Boone is a small town, so most of the locals who've lived here a while have either known their spouse for many years, or moved here together. Theres really nothing to do here to meet women either, unless you like bars. Boone is considered a hippy town. Asheville May be more of your thing. Of course, if your job allows you to live anywhere, you could try Boone for a while and see if you like it. Personally, I'm moving away from the area within the year.
