Spending Two Perfect Days In Asheville - Forbes Travel Guide Blog
If you want to blow a lot of money and see very little of what Asheville is, sequester yourself on the Biltmore Estate. If Asheville is your destination, do Asheville.

Wicked Weed is a start, great beer, good food, and should be on a visit list for the beer and food scene here. Others that are smaller, and equally good if not better, beer and food, such as the Oyster House Brewing Co, Lexington Ave Brewing, Asheville Brewing (2 locations) and Thirsty Monk, or the many brewery tasting rooms, such as Green Man Brewing, High Wire Brewing, Burial Brewing, French Broad Brewing, The Wedge, Altamont Brewing, Highland Brewing, Catawba Valley Brewing (tasting room only, brewery under constructions) Pisgah and Lookout in Black Mountain. Plus tap rooms with great food, Barley's Taproom, Jack of the Wood.

Since the OP asked the question on 1/19/2014, we might consider that they have already been to Asheville. It is nice though when OP's give a brief summary of whether or not the advice given was helpful.
