What would have been a spectacular leaf peak season, 'Karen' will put a damper to it.

My prediction on how the peak would be is coming true, wet summer followed bt a cool and dry early fall the leaves appear to be turning beautiful shades as seen in this cam.

Gratefully Karen has been downgraded to the lowest tropical denominator she still will produce heavy down pours of rain.
After she is done later in the week a system currently over the mid west that some meterologists said will have strong winds will wipe out more leaves with it.

What are you seeing, Sunny? My 10-day forecast shows nothing but sunny skies, outside of tomorrow.

Here is one prediction
Quote:
A shot of steady rainfall will arrive tonight, lasting into early Monday afternoon (rainfall totals will be around an inch, with locally higher amounts). Clearing will get underway as early as late-day Monday, with skies going mostly clear later Monday night.

Thanks! I guess tomorrow's rain (my forecast) is what you're referring to. An inch in one day seems like mild drizzle compared to July and August, so I'm still hopeful the colors will remain.

Sunny,
Thanks for the link to all those cams!! Wow! It's fantastic getting a peak at places I've heard about on this website over several years. I'm an armchair tourist today!

I love visiting CD!! I appreciate all of you "regular posters" more than you will ever know. I have visited Asheville and surrounds, as well as eastern Tennessee. I plan to move to WNC within the next year., and dream of having many of you as neighbors.

Best wishes for a beautiful autumn.

Nice maps and links SK...
Those wind speeds are a riot: right now we have winds at 35-40, with gusts to 55, here on our ridge at ~5,000 ft.
The ripping rain, which is closing in and coming out of the SSE is not our friend up here, either.

Leaves are down off the trees by the millions already, and it will be interesting to see what we higher elevations 'look like, leaf-wise', after this rain and wind blows through in a day or so. Color is minimal to blah up here this season, for all the reasons posted earlier.
