can anyone tell me more about weaverville? me and my wife went through it on the way back from our disatrous trip to north carolina and really like it its close the asheville but still has its small town charm...anyone else been there or live there or have something to say about it?
do a search for these..... madison county, weaverville and marshall. Since W/ville is so close to Madison it has alot of connection to those posts. We love Madison County and Weaverville and Marshall will be our two closest towns when we move there.
Only Bad news is a Large shopping center is going in by the interstate exit for W/ville..anchors to be Walmart and Lowes.
where do i look to find places for rent in weaverville and surrounding area? is there a newspaper or something? are the places for rent covered in the asheville paper? please help! lol....need help looking
My husband and I just purchased 8 acres in Marshall nc and can not decide if we should build on it or not. We are not sure about the town. Can anyone tell me something, anything about the area? Thanks!

Have you at least seen the property? Why would you buy land in an area you were unsure about.

Yeah, I thought the same thing... there was another thread a few months back about someone who had bought a house in some small NC town, and had posted to ask if people could tell him what the downtown area was like, where stores were, etc. because he had never been there himself.
People seem to have more money than sense sometimes.
We just got back from a week in Madison county where we have 4 1/2 acres on the Ivy River. I can't wait to leave Florida and become a resident of Marshall, NC.
We know the area quite well as this was our 6th visit in 14 months. Four of which have been week long stays.
Marshall is in a sort of renaissance DT and I can report as I have here in these forums already that the people are friendly and the town is ...well...Marshall. Cool music Friday nights, Zuma coffee, Penlands, Good Stuff Grocery and more getting ready to happen with the changes & growth in the little DT area.
The By-Pass area has a new Ingles, the folks at the County Gov't center out on the by-pass were friendly and helpful. The restaurants like Carolina Cafe and Moochies are a joy vs the cookie cutter chain restaurants. Same for restaurants in nearby Weaverville, Mars Hill, Hot Springs and North Asheville,
Madison County is beautiful and I think Marshall is a great little town.
Thanks for the replys! The reason we purchased the property without knowing much about it is that it was a forclosure and a real good deal. Our friend is a real estate agent in Waynesville. The property is on Back Branch road about 20 minutes out of town.We have been there twice and so far really like it, but we have 4 kids to consider and don't know if there is enough to do around there or not. We live in a real rural area now but 20 minutes away there is everything.
I live right on the border of W/ville and Asheville and I love being outside of Asheville. Weaverville has the CUTEST downtown, a sweet small-town feel, and good schools. They tend to split the grades differently in some schools (K-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8), but some schools are the traditional K-5, 6-8, etc.
My fiance and I chose our apartment complex because it was just outside Weaverville (you can search on rent.com for Woodland Hills). It's probably one of the pricest apartments we found, but they are gorgeous and we don't have to deal with a lot of traffic.
I personally wouldn't live in Asheville, but I'd jump on the opportunity to live in Weaverville. Everyone is friendly and the town is adorable.
