Hi everyone,

It seems like most people on these posts are looking for the happenin', "progressive" areas in the city to live, so I haven't been able to find anything that really addresses what I'm looking for...

I'm a 25-year-old conservative, Christian, single female looking at relocating to Asheville for work from Virginia. I love living in the country doing the whole fishing, hiking, boating, line dancing, sitting on the front porch thing, but don't want to be real isolated. I'm hoping I can get some input from y'all on where I should look at living.

I don't care about schools, housing a family, or shopping, but safety is very important to me as I'll be living alone (maybe with a dog or two). I'll be working in the Woodfin area and would like to keep the commute down around 40 minutes or less (rent around $600). Basically, I'm just wondering what town or area around Asheville is still "country" (not yuppie and not trailor park), has affordable, decent housing, is not filled with elderly people, and has access to outdoorsy sort of activities. Anything come to mind?

Default Woodfin

I'd recommend that you try looking for a place in Woodfin. It is generally safer than other nearby areas (Leicester, Asheville, etc.) has access to the river and mountains and has housing available in your price range. If you're looking for more on the town you might try

Hope this helps and good luck with the move.
