Does anyone have a good recommendation for a mortgage co. or bank that typically has very low interest rates and is reliable, good reputation?
I need to find one this week.
Thanks.

Contact Bank of America. No need to use a mortgage broker. I closed last month and they were great, competitive with very low fees.

Bank of America is far from having best available rates. Gotta shop it. Looks to have been a small spike recently causing the 30 yr fixed avg to bounce over 5%. Hopefully it slips back real soon...

I used this mortgage broker for my home. He is very honest, reliable and will go the extra mile for you. My real estate broker recommended him to me and in the end, I was happy she did.

I would honestly get at least 10 or so good faith estimates from all sort of lenders. Make sure you are paying close attention to your rate, whether they are trying to sell you points or not, what the closing costs are (ask for a line-item price breakout to see if they are trying to charge you for crap), what the terms of the loan are, and what type of loan they are quoting.

If anyone tells you they need your SS# or need to do a credit check to give you a good faith, they are lying. If you give them your basic info (income amount, credit score, desired loan amount, term, etc.) they should be able to shoot you out a good faith within 24 to 48 hours.

Do your homework or you're risking getting burned and wasting thousands of dollars!

I get at least 3 GFE before deciding. Sometimes the good rate comes with many fees. Look at the APR. Tell them you want the best deal and are shopping around.
