Please let me know how safe is WPB. From my research it looks that WPB has very high murder and rape rates. I am considering moving there with my family. Thank u!

If you don't move to the ghetto (north end of town), don't get involved in drugs and gangs, you will be fine. If you read news reports you will notice that there tends to be a pattern to crime. Also, crime is down in West Palm Beach over years past. It's actually safer than it has been in decades.

Are you moving to the actual CITY of West Palm Beach? As a rule, the best family neighborhoods (with single family homes, sidewalks, trees, families) in West Palm Beach are East of I-95, South of Okeechobee Blvd.

Exactly where did that poster make a racist comment? Is using the WORD 'ghetto' racist now? I didn't get that memo. Do you even know what a ghetto is? Did you know that any race can live in a ghetto? Ghettos are available in a variety of flavors, it's not for blacks only.

Ghetto | Definition of Ghetto at Dictionary.com: a section of a city, esp. a thickly populated slum area, inhabited predominantly by members of an ethnic or other minority group, often as a result of social or economic restrictions, pressures, or hardships.
...and have you ever heard of 'spell-check'?

Just like every city there are some areas which have a higher crime rate than others. This is true of West Palm Beach as well.

It is all going to depend on what type of housing you are looking for and your budget. Before you decide on any neighborhood in any city, drive through it during the day. Than return and drive through it at night. If you are not comfortable, don't move there.

And definately check out the crime map.

I like what you said best!! Every big city in a large metro area has it's fair share of crime. But lots has changed here since that night in 1993 when Dan rather stood on the west end of clematis and used west palm beach as their example of urban decay on 60 Mins.

I mean look at northwood alone compared to 25 years ago!!

Anybody have a link or a spot where I can get a copy of this video, or a clip of it? I'd like to watch and make a comparison. I am only familiar with West Palm Beach from 2005 and up, and I've always wondered what it was like back in the day.
