Where are you coming from? Northern New Jersey
Why are you moving? Parents want better weather, I am considering it for economic reasons
Where will you be working ? Unsure yet

Will you buy or rent? buy
What is your budget ? $115,000 - $350,000
What kind of place are you looking for ? condo, apartment, or villa

Will anyone (spouse, children, pets) be moving with you ? Parents and possible me (son)
Do you need/want good public schools? no

Briefly describe the kind of neighborhood you'd like to live in:
My parents are in their mid 50s, I'm in my early 20s. Are there any gated communities with a pool, maybe a tennis court, but NO golf course and with reasonable HOA fees ($500 per month or less)?

List three things that are important to you in order of importance: safety, nice, location

Bottom Line: My parents are considering a move to Florida when I graduate college in 2015. They are in their mid 50s, so not ready for a retirement community, but too old for a community with a lot of young families. My father plays tennis, but spending a ton of money for a country club community would be a waste.

I might consider moving down with them, but I'm still 50/50 - I love Florida, but I also love my home state of NJ. Economically, FL makes sense and the weather is better. We have family in Boynton Beach.

What do you all think - Boca, Delray, Boynton? Also, any communities such as what I described?

Thanks.

55+ communities tend to be less expensive.
The Budget: $115K-$350 seems a rather broad spread. And, who knows what the properties will be 2015? May be your parents should come down and spend a few months here to see what they like. If they come June-November most seasonal rentals will be quite reasonable.
