Snow is melting. Paradoxically, after those frosts below -20C (the lowest temperature was -26C) grass is still green.

I was just on my way home from work, driving about 50 mph (80km/hr) on a local backroad, which is the speed limit, and from the right side of the road this dog comes strolling onto the road. Stupid thing probably has no concept how lucky he is that I have good reflexes for that and applied the brakes in time or he'd be dead. Who the **** lets their dog roam around like that? More often than not, that dog would be hit by a car in the same situation. Hard to say exactly, but it could have been as little as 5 car lengths in front of me when I saw it and braked.

Apparently it's been snowing in York for the last hour. Thank god I'm not moving back there until next month. I'd like to get through winter without seeing a snowflake!

So far this winter for me,

November ave high: 10.4C
December ave high: 10.6C
January ave high: 10.2C

Mild.
