That's good. The quake we had back home (though nowhere near my hometown and where my family live) was some distance away (70km) and it triggered the tsunami alert system, but no wave was generated. Quite lucky, too, since this quake occurred at the Puerto Rico Trench. It was 20km deep
Tsunami sirens are one thing I wouldn't want to hear. The whole bay here experienced a big tsunami about 500 years ago, estimated to be between 15-35 metres/45-100 ft high. No place in town is higher than 6 metres - makes me glad I live on a hill.
Nope lol. Still more than any non-Floridian poster on here though luckily Puerto Rico just skirts the hurricane belt, unlike Florida which is the bullseye
That's good. My dad also got a 6.4 earthquake last week in PR and thankfully, nothing happened.
Melbourne had 2 tremors in the last week. Both only about 2.5 but interesting nonetheless and this instability could lead to something bigger.
One scenario that could potentially happen is a massive underwater earthquake in/around NZ, as the country sits on the boundary of the Pacific and Australian plates, which could send Tsunamis racing toward Australia.
