Here in North Texas, it goes like this nearly every year.

We have spring, summer, still summer, and December. But I'd have to say we've got mild winters just to keep things interesting.

Sounds like a great climate for people who only hate cold weather.

For someone who hates warmth and doesn't mind cloud,
mine is excellent 7-8 months a year...
10-11 months if we get a cool summer
and even a solid 6 months with a hot summer still isn't warm.

ILNC, I think you're right. I honestly believe that CC, myself, and a few others would love your climate. Your summers appear to be a bit humid, but if they aren't worse then central Fla. or southwest Fla., they'd be tolerable for me. Now DH on the other hand, isn't really a fan of the high humidity of Fla. I'd say we could trade, but I'm not sure you'd like your winters to be quite as cold as ours can be.

My ideal seasons would be~spring, summer, summer, and summer.

England:

Winter: February 1st - April 30th (This is the only time it seems to snow)
Spring: May 1st - July 20th
Summer: July 21st - July 31st (This week of summer is "optional", and often non-existent).
Autumn: August 1st - January 31st (The last few augusts have been total crap, and january seems to be the most consistently above average month temperature wise in recent years.)

I don't think it's possible for it to be too humid for me... Or is it?
I had no problem breathing nearly-pure steam and condensation that felt 10-20 F hotter than my sweat in a steam room.

Similar sentiments, here's my dream 4-season climate:

Spring, 56-74 F usually, infrequent frost, 1 good freeze to thin out the bugs
1st Summer, 70-89 F usually, always frost-free
"Mid-Summer", 85+ F always, no lows under 65 F (yes, it should be a seperate season )
2nd Summer, 70-89 F usually, always frost-free

I see ya'll didn't really understand what I was trying to do....lol, let me use CC's location as an example.

Winter is the coldest 25% of the year, and summer is the warmest 25% of the year.

CC's location:

Coldest time of the Year: 19F/ Jan 21-Feb 3
Warmest time of the Year: 69F/ Jul 11- Aug 5

Winter: 31F to 19F to 31F/ Dec 2-March 18/ lasts 107 days
Spring: 32F to 57F/ March 19-May 25/ lasts 67 days
Summer: 58F to 69F to 58F/ May 26- Sep 21/ lasts 118 days
Fall: 57F to 32F/ Sep 22-Dec 1/ lasts 70 days

Hope it makes sense now....

Okay, now I will do Duluth, MN:

Coldest time of the Year: 8F/ Jan 9-18 (Average High: 17F/ Average Low: -2F)
Warmest time of the Year: 67F/ Jul 25-Aug 1 (Average High: 77F/ Average low: 56F)

Winter: 22F to 8F to 22F/ Nov 27-March 10/ lasts 103 days
Spring: 23F to 52F/ March 11-May 24/ lasts 74 days
Summer: 53F to 67F to 53F/ May 25-Sep 21/ lasts 119 days
Fall: 52F to 23F/ Sep 22-Nov 26/ lasts 65 days
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And.....for those ppl who say winter is the mean average being <32F, then winter would be like this in Duluth, MN:
Nov 9-Apr 1/ lasts 152 days.
Going strictly by percentages (each season is 25%)
winter-45 and under-December 5-March 6 (92 days)
spring-46-75-March 7-June 1 (87 days)
summer-76 and over-June 2-September 13 (104 days)
fall-46-75-September 14-December 4 (82 days)
I tried to make each season as close to 25% as possible. This is not my idea of how the seasons go, this is just what the coldest/warmest/middle is like where I live. One of the reasons I hate this climate so much is because of the variation during Spring and Fall. Late Spring and early Fall are quite comfortable at 75, but late fall and early spring are too cold at 46. There's just such a wide range for one season. Also, summer starts at 76 degrees here but that's the type of weather I want to see in Spring, Fall, or even winter.
Here's how the seasons really go, based not on the 25% rule but on temperature (this way, late fall and early spring get grouped with winter and summer is shorter)
winter-mid November to early April
spring-mid April to mid June
summer-late June to late August
fall-early September to early November
I don't really have an ideal climate. I just want something warmer than here where I can be comfortable year round.
For the MD piedmont, I'd say Jan/Feb is [brrrr...] winter, Mar-May is spring, June-Sep is summer, and Oct-Dec is autumn.
