I bet Venice Beach is packed, lots of people venturing into the water I'm guessing.

Las Vegas is 106, actually cooler than LA but it will be hotter by the end of the day. Any tourists are probably either cooling off in the pools or in the A/C casinos. Dew is 34F. Man make sure you wear sunscreen and chapstick, that kind of heat will dry you out quickly.

Phoenix is 108, tied with LA. Seattle is comfortably cool at 68F.
It was 81f here today not 68. Also San Francisco reached 100f and 102f for the airport.

They say you always need a light jacket in San Francisco in the evening. Well, maybe not tonight..with a balmy 86 measured at a little after 7.30 pm at SFO.

100°F in downtown San Francisco today. That shatters by eight degrees the old record for the day of 92°F that had stood for 116 years! Unreal.

Rapid City South Dakota hit 104F on Saturday....

Today they will have a high of 50 and a low of 34F

Today will be a pleasant day but the rest of the week looks like trash Some improvement by next Sunday....

CFSv2 saying we are stuck in this cold pattern for two weeks and will break it in week three but who the heck trusts the CFSv2 three weeks out...

At least the GFS ensembles are saying something similar. We might only have to put up with this pattern until about the 20th

Another thing to remember about September, what’s well below average in beginning of the month will be at or above average by end of the month. I always prefer more gradual drops in fall. Sudden drops from 70-40 in 1 day will make me sick.

But those drops are part of what makes the weather in the middle of the North American landmass some of the most intriguing in the world. A large open mass of land, a freezing cold ocean on top, a tropical ocean at the bottom, no mountain ranges to speak of. Maybe not the most pleasant to live in, but certainly fascinating to watch.

This morning we see an intriguing air mass boundary just south of the Kansas-Nebraska line. Kansas City is currently at 77 with a 68 dewpoint, St.Joseph is at 70 with a 52 dewpoint, Omaha is at 64 with a 46 dewpoint.

Temp for Houston is 86/70 towards the end of September. Hoping that the cold front makes it a bit cooler than that when I go there.
