Wow, crazy stuff going on. Polar vortex, blocking high to the east, even stronger epic blocking high to the west, hurricane(s). Unreal.

Current 500 mb analyis.

Current 2m temperature anomalies. At mid-to-high latitudes it's either way above normal or way below; not much in between.

Current temperatures in Alberta. Below freezing with snow in much of the province. Still nice in the south. Something about funnel clouds down there though.

Snow is just starting in Edmonton. Here's what it looks like to the northwest of us.

We all know the GFS track record for the 11-15 day period.

Euro say this. Overall a warm pattern between now and the 27th

81F at 2PM under sunny skies at both MDW and ORD. IKK here in the far south suburbs is at 80F

Same here in the Midwest. We had an extra 2 months of winter this year in March and April, why not push summer into October!

Florence will be a nightmare for the Southeast. Could stall down there with little upper level steering winds and ringing to the north and west

It's warmed up to a fairly disgusting temp/dp of 76/72, but luckily for me, we have not seen the sun in 5 days and let's hope it stays that way!

Definitely model divergence at low latitudes even at 10 days. Euro looks like this:

While GFS is calling for dueling tropical cyclones! One in the Gulf of Mexico, the other off of Baja California.

Time will tell. Seems unlikely though.

No fall here. Hottest temps of the year are here now thanks to sinking air around the cane.

That sucks, hopefully you'll get at least some relief soon, even if it's not fall-like, a break for the high temps.
