Temp has been stuck at 48 for about 3 hours. Wind is still up and won't allow the temp to drop.

White Mountains got dumped; lowland stations got at least a foot. Berlin 19.5". Current trail conditions:

Trails are snow covered with 18-30’’ on the upper mountain. Trails are snow covered; snow is wind packed on the upper half of the mountain. Trails above and below have deep snow and deep drifts.

But only reporting 8-12 inches in the last day, not 12-18 inches. Snow depth is 2-3 feet

Awesome animation of the pressure falls.

For those not sure, the darker the blues the lower the pressure (stronger the storm). Basically started strengthening at the SC/NC latitude then was 50+ millibars lower by time it got to NJ latitude. Insane.

13.6" of snow on Jan. 4 in Boston, where I once lived in the late '40s and early '50s ... Yawn. Some networks are reporting twice that amount, fake news. Someone look at the detailed historical records and tell me what the average and standard deviation of the time series of event-based snowfall in Boston. This doesn't even rate in the top 10 for blizzards.

The flooding does look somewhat exceptional, however, but my memory of the years I spent in, and just West of Boston, from 1948-1966 is a little hazy.
