You can see the dog's footprints just like dinosaur fossiles.
And even though the temperature hasn't even dipped above freezing for 5 days now, the frozen lake looks pretty wet.
Turns out the ice is still there as thick as ever, but with about 25 cm of slush on top. I think the water might come from the nearby creek which must've poured some water on top of the ice, and the snow would've soaked all up making it slowly spread.

Yeah, I was impressed at the quality too. The lighting may have helped too.
I cant find the paw print. Awesome. Lol
When you say hasnt dipped above freezing, do you mean risen above freezing or dipped below?
Water on lake could be what you said with run off from nearby creek or maybe the sun is simply melting the layer of snow on top making it puddle up over the thick ice. Assuming theres been sun shining.

All the little islands of snow are foot and paw prints. The weight pressurises the snow enough for it to stay in one place when the rest blows away in the wind.
And it hasn't been above freezing in Tavelsjö in five or siz days. Nor has there been much in the way of sun, and if there were, the sun still wouldn't melt anything lol.
Since living here (10 years) I have never seen my backyard Maple Tree with leaves past end of November. Granted they are done now, but I'm baffled why they didn't fall. I have an idea though.
Close up of leaves
Beautiful day today again here at the Connecticut Coast! Temps in mid 40s. No Tsunamis out there but I see you Long Island. And yet another tree without losing its leaves.
nice. more colorful than I'd expect that far south.
