There's something happening with the Polar Jet Stream for around mid month
Lets look at 3 models for same time frame for morning of October 12th..
GFS has the entire Polar Jet suppressed south. Below normal in Alberta and Northeast U.S
5000 foot temps
Canadian has a ridge in Eastern U.S and the Jet stream diving down over the Rockies.
5000 foot temps
Euro has an amplified pattern with a Ridge in West and Trough in East with deep cold air. Below normal surface from Ontario, Ohio Valley and Northeast.
5000 foot temps
I think Canadian is wrong. I believe we have another cool blast coming by mid month. It's still 9-10 days away so we'll see.
Nice. Cant wait. We need some rain and might as well get it before things go dormant.
NWS NY mentions a few days of precip coming
Quote:
THURSDAY THROUGH TUESDAY/...
Unsettled weather expected through the weekend as a series of
frontal boundaries move across the area. Friday night into
Saturday light precipitation is expected as a warm front moves
across the region. The front should lift far north to allow for
dry conditions on Saturday. A cold front then moves across the
region Sunday, remaining in the vicinity of the region into
early next week.
Low pressure is then expected to bring a better chance of rain
Monday into Tuesday. A southerly flow will allow for some tropical
moisture to move into the region. Main questions will be timing and
placement of the front and timing of the low. Either way, Some of
the rain Monday into Tuesday may be heavy at times. The chance of
precipitation will continue into the middle of the week
Down to 70 with a 57 dew now after the sun just set.
The max was 79 after a low of 45. Yet another high diurnal range (a positive, especially as it comes with lots of sunshine).
Tomorrow should be near 80 followed by a slight cool down and then a potential last run at 80 over the weekend. At least upper 70s until next Tuesday. An unfortunate amount of rain is being forecast, but I can't complain too much as we just had a near-record dry spell.
