I'm guessing that's because of some places being higher than others.

Well, it is mid month, so I will refresh the winter record minimum temperature rank of the poll :

1° Balmaceda: -11.5C/11F(June 15)
2° Perisher Valley: -6.5C/20F(June 2)
3° Maquinchao: -5.5C/22F(June 9)
4° Ranfurly : ....

- I use Perisher Valley due to the lack of information about Charlotte Pass, next time someone should use it while creating the poll.
- Ranfurly lack of data, seriously, why places in interior parts of NZ doesn't even have some reliable weather data?

Afterall, this cold spell in South America should lead to a battle between Balmaceda and Maquinchao for the first place, and who know if some cold blast in Australia don't give it the first place later.

Thredbo top got to -6.7C on 1st June 2017, special mention for that. Also Goulburn in NSW reached -6.9C on June 1, 2017 and on 8th of May 2017 dipped to a painful -7.5C. At an elevation of ~700m in Australia that's pretty good.

It is acceptable any data from Australian Alps given it limited latitude, but Goulburn is out of it, still impressive low temperature.
Where you see temperatures for Thredbo?

On BOM, Thredbo Top Station, NSW - Daily Weather Observations.

Just look for recent observations in NSW then scroll down to snowy mountains to see many stations to look at.

El Calafate had -9ºC this morning and Río Turbio -8.4ºC

---

Muggy day here to begin a very interesting week ahead for us, in wich we'll have: fog, unseasonable warm days this weekend, storms followed by high wind gusts, and then a significant cold entry. Sounds nice

---

Yesterday it began to snow in Patagonia plateau. Some photos.

Perito Moreno:

Aldea Beleiro:

El Chalten:

Now it's snowing in Esquel.
