Fortunately for me, I'm in an area that's almost the exact opposite of the Newark phenomenon. I live in a higher elevation Philly suburb (though not that high - 400 feet) due north of the city, and today it's 89 in Allentown (30 miles north of me), 88 in Reading (40 miles west of me), 88 in Philly (just south of me) but "only" 85 here Lol

86 isn't really hot for the region, NYC's average high is 85. Newark is inland so it heats slightly better.

Only LaGuardia is 85f, Central Park is 84f. For NYC metro area I think it stands out

I could understand if it was 88F, but 86F falls in line with the rest of the region. You'll find similar average highs on the North/Central Jersey cusp, possibly even including parts of Staten Island.

It's starting to storm here. It's been raining on and off most of today because of Bonnie.

Also, this is a good summertime 10 day forecast.
