Why is it so hard to stop drinking after a certain alcohol level? Most times when I intend to not drink that much I end up completely drunk - like today. I guess it just makes too much fun

The more you drink, the more dopamine your brain releases. The brain fools you that you need another drink, as it feels so good. It's the core cause for substance dependency. If you are a heavy drinker or a drug user, the brain always tells you that it 'needs' another fix.
Dopamine is also essential for us in learning, our internal clock, sexual urge and physical excercise.

There is nothing to do about it but self-control. Deal with it. Good that you're from a culture of binge-drinking, so don't worry.

Yep, one thing to like about this country.

It's the same in the UK. People here drink way too much. Alcohol related crime and alcohol related illness are huge strains on resources and a blight on many towns.

Why is London's climate such a hot topic on this forum?

I don't know, I've asked this many times before and nobody has an answer. It never happens with other climates.

There is also wavehunter who seems to have an unnatural obsession with pretending he is from the UK and then rubbishing everything about the place. There is a strong anti-UK sentiment in te Europe and world forums as well.

And naturally here too. While I like to get completely wasted, I realise that alcohol is a huge cause of sorrow in this country. Alcohol is the cause of 80% of all murders and probably 70% of all children taken into custody. A police officer here in Turku said once "if alcohol wouldn't exist, we'd need one patrol car a shift".

The second thing which annoys me is that alcoholics are being ignored. We are so used to 'town drunks', that nobody cares about them anymore. And the culture of everyone minding their own business makes it even worse. Finns consume alcohol less than the Danish, Germans, Czech, French and others, but the damage in GDP and health is far higher here. Culminating in the higher murder rate.

While we don't have the same blight here as in the UK, the worst of the worst regions in Finland like the Lahti area, Kainuu and Northern Karelia provinces are also the heaviest drinkers with the most social problems.

It's seriously annoying. I mean do we really need a 400 reply thread over when London will see its first 20 C? lol.

It's the only climate I see people argue over a difference of like 0.5 C. It's not that serious, lol.
