Lol, I actually saw that article on my FB the other day. The moronic comments by people on it made me face palm harder than when I read the idiotic "US South is a Subtropical Paradise" threads.

Damn, that sucks man.

It's funny, I learned yesterday that the reason we didn't get thunderstorms last week down here was due to Saharan dust/air stabilizing our atmosphere. That makes sense. What was frustrating is that we had westerly winds (which usually brings us our best storms) but we weren't getting ****. I thought we were just cursed or something lol. The Saharan air has cleared now though and those westerlies are persisting, so storms are going to be much more frequent now. We had a really nice one yesterday.

Unofficial 116 mph wind gust in weekend storms near Waukegan Harbor.

The powerful and damaging thunderstorms which swept through sections of the Chicago area this past week produce an at an unofficial gust of 116 mph near Waukegan Harbor. The wind graphic below comes to us courtesy of my WGN colleague Steve Sanders and was passed on to Steve by Jim Moran, a longtime sailor out of Waukegan Harbor. Here’s what the single gust looked like Saturday afternoon. The wind surge bears the markings of an impressive microburst and even a tornado.

Hope so. That's a pretty bad drought currently.

The distant sound of a lawn mower
The gentle sound of a breeze
Certain birds chirping & singing
An occasional dog bark
A distant motorcycle now & then
A private plane flying overhead
Clear blue skies with Cumulus clouds around
Lunchtime Temp 72°F, Dewpoint 53°F on July 23rd

Someone grab that bottle again and lets preserve this day.

Temps

Dewpoints. Perfect day to be on the boat off the coast!

Well that was only a factor last week.....most of the summer has been dry due to the Bermuda High being too far west, causing a dry high pressure ridge for the SE coast. We have a high to our west, causing west winds from the Gulf that usually brings more instability and higher DPs....most of the summer our dew points have been upper 60s/low 70s. Over the last few days it's been more like mid-70s..hopefully that means the drought is waning.

What's causing those clouds up in northern New Hampshire and northern Vermont. Since it's been dry and not that hot here, I assumed it might be a good time to go to the White Mountains. But it's cloudy, maybe showery up there.

Might get some cool photos.. Not widespread, heavy or consistent rains but wouldn't make a clean trip. That Upper Low has cold air aloft with it as they usually do which is providing instability for storms

Speaking of Caribou....

AN UPPER LEVEL TROUGH OF LOW PRESSURE DROPPING DOWN FROM QUEBEC

MOST OF THE SHOWERS WILL BE ACROSS CENTRAL AND NORTHERN AREAS.
