What is weird is seeing a January snowpack around 2 days to April. THAT IS SO SO WEIRD around here. Day # 66 straight. We are lucky to have small piles stick around to mid March, let alone a snowpack or big piles into April.

Or is this weird? ... Snow piles everywhere on the pavement still. 41N
I used to believe that, but if a March sun angle can prevent snow from accumulating, I wouldn't be surprised if a July sun angle melted any snow before it hit the ground. I don't know for sure, but I just think the odds would be against snow falling with a 70+ degree sun angle.

It would have to be a full fledged blizzard to stick. Lol Nobody ever witnessed it and no records ever showed it but I'm sure its happened before. In fact, Albany reported snow falling in June 1816. Anything is possible but like we said, conditions have to be ripe and perfect for it. ie: temps at all levels and intensity of snow falling.

Went on a nice hike today in eastern Kentucky.

Kentucky? Or Florida? Very interesting.

Dry day with cobalt blue sky.

Hard to see but there is a waterfall in the center.

Lots of rhododendrons in this area.

Neat rock wall

The "Balancing Rock"

View from underneath Natural Bridge

This is the only way onto the bridge from the path I took.

I've always wanted to go to the Red River Gorge. We were going to drive up there in March 2013, but the weather was forecast to be crap so we went to Big Bend National Park in Texas instead.

Paved path through the maritime hammock. Lots of tropical species in this park.

Oaks

New nuts on scrub hickory

Sand pine in the scrub area

Large scrub hickory. Biggest I've seen anyway.
