We can only hope. But it'll probably do the usual and hit the high 48's and then stall right around 49C. That last degree always seems to be just a bridge too far. Still beats the living hell out of Melbourne's polar excuse for a "summer" this year. Too bad the inland Pilbara is not near sea level, if it were it would be a truly amazing place climate wise. Look at Paraburdoo at 423m elevation, no stranger to 46-47C heat and low temps well in excess of 30C. Can only imagine if it were close to sea level.
Some fantastic heat elsewhere in WA today,
47.8C in Carnarvon today. New record for the town. Also around 47C at Denham and Shark Bay, which is remarkable considering the area is on a peninsula surrounded on 3 sides by water! Will have to wait until tomorrow for the actual highs.

I know, last year I think Moomba in South Australia got to 49.6°C. Could it not rise by at least 0.4°C more? I remember sitting on BoM looking at the observations for ages, and it stagnated at 48°C for the entire afternoon. Frustrating.
Melbourne's summer has been lacking quite a bit (20°C maximums really) although today and the next 4 days will be warm. Shame about the clouds. I think I prefer this over 47°C though lol, I have my limits.
The whole Pilbara area is very weird. It gets so hot on the coast. There may be areas without weather stations that reach 50°C every summer there, we may never know.
Adelaide has had a few similarly abnormally cool days too but despite all that, I don't think we have grounds to complain just yet - both cities are sitting at about a degree above the averages at the moment, both in min. and max.
