They surely mean hottest yet, and not the more unthinkable "hottest whole summer". More to show graphics can occasionally mislead.

Accuweather currently forecasts a peak of 88F at KPIT. Not surprisingly, if it doesn't reach 90F next week there, chances are it won't the rest of the month.

Considering there are some parts of Tennessee further north I would beg to differ.

Low 90s if setup happens.

If pans out should be the hottest air of the year so far as the graphic specifically mentions. Not misleading at all.

Air...not specific IMB temps. If BDL gets to 89 that won't be their hottest of the year but it also doesn't mean the entire airmass wasn't the hottest. Instead of sporatic 90s we might see more widespread 90s and 80s. We'll see if it pans out.

Their long range forecast for specific cities is different from their overall thinking. Those forecasts are automatic & heavily weighed on the GFS whereas the graphics are humanized and created. But keep us posted if those forecasts change. I'm curious if they go up (or down) in time.

Had some pretty intense thunderstorms yesterday and last night with heavy downpours. I got nearly 4 inches of rain in my rain gauge total.

Weather looks nicer today, not as hot. I thought it was supposed to be well into the 80s all week, but the forecast is now calling for a high of 77F today. Nice and cloudy now... actually "bundled up" - wearing and sweatshirt and long pants because my room is still chilly from running the AC at 60F all night. I miss being able to wear layers of clothes... fall can't come soon enough, lol.
