Typically the kind of climate battle where deneb and I will differ in our choices despite having similar dream climates (I presume).

I pick Beijing in a heartbeat, for way more sunshine and far superior summers. Everything else being equal I'd even pick Beijing's winters, give me a dry and sunny -7°C over Brest's rainy oceanic crap (albeit mild).

I've been to Beijing twice, in May and in April, both times it was gorgeous. Lows around 15°C, highs around 25°C (even reached 30°C in April), and tons of sunshine.

I prefer Beijing for the variety, the hot and humid summer with lovely warm rain on some days, the great sunshine hours, the awesome thunderstorms in the summer...

Beijing for me. Neither is my kind of climate, but Brest is just a bit too grim.

The sunshine stats for Beijing mask its pollution problem... So it doesn't factor in for me. Brest in a heartbeat even though it's still not very good... Brest is a D+ and Beijing is an F.

Beijing by light years. Brest is too monotone temperature-wise and mold would be particularly easy to grow there.

How the HELL did you get ahold of Beijing's 1981 to 2010 norms? There's no evidence on this forum that you can read Chinese and besides account registration is required.

Indeed, if Hartfordd's numbers verify, the 1981 to 2010 norms are down over 100 hours of sun from 1971 to 2000.

Voted for Beijing. Brest for being cooler and gloomier, of course.

Don't like either, Brest has slight edge as Beijing summer is too hot.

I vote for Beijing in total, but i would spend the months of July and August rather in Brest.

Brest for cooler summers. Beijing's winters are colder (which is good to me) but its cold is useless because its snowfall is way too low.
