No way Ormond Beach hits 99 tomorrow. That map is hogwash, or at least severely off from NWS expectations.
We can get hail like that but it's rare, like once per year.

This is what the NWS is calling for today.

what's with this stretch of cloudy weather? Are we by a stationary front?

It's been so dark and overcast all day, and now it's 7:00PM it's actually brighter than at any time of the day, with some blue sky patches visible.

It seems weird for the brightest time of day to be at 7:00PM.

You don't have to have a front nearby to have overcast all week.

Here in Buxton the air is stable but saturated enough that there's a constant layer of stratus cloud every day of the year. Even in high pressure.

It would be unusual to get blue sky or sun here, on any day of the year.

It's like this to the British public:

Dark Overcast: Normal
Light overcast: Bright
Light overcast with blue sky patches visible: Pleasant/Sunny
Mostly cloudy: Sunny
Clear: Boiling, scorching, too hot (even if cold), need sunglasses/suntan lotion etc....

As opposed to NWS actually fixing and adjusting errors.

It was a blip seen on the OBS report.

It's now been fixed. Check it. IEM :: Site Info: CEF CHICOPEE/WESTOVER

We need more like you to find these little blips. In April I contact 3 different offices for 3 different small errors I found in their database. NWS Wyoming, NY, and Boston. They thanked me and fixed it. One was Bridgeport December snowfall total showed 10.6" but when adding up the daily totals it was 10.9". NCDC also had 10.9".

Currently there's an inverted trough, a low pressure nearby, winds off the Atlantic, and the ULL still over Canadian Maritimes. Most likely the reasons.

The sun just came out and I feel much better. Forget Climate Change...Maybe it's Cambium Change? LOL!! Not really.

But yeah... whats with the clouds. You read my mind... I grabbed the Cloud vs Clear data for BDR this morning to see if it's different this month vs previous years. First thing I notice was the amount of clear days in May 2010. Doesn't seem too odd this year for clouds. so far..

May

2009
Clear Days: 11
Cloudy or Partly Cloudy: 20

2010
Clear Days: 21
Cloudy or Partly Cloudy: 10

2011
Clear Days: 9
Cloudy or Partly Cloudy: 21

2012
Clear Days: 10
Cloudy or Partly Cloudy: 21

2013
Clear Days: 15
Cloudy or Partly Cloudy: 16

2014 until 22nd only
Clear Days: 10
Cloudy or Partly Cloudy: 12
