Yes, beautiful period of weather in Miami. This is the one time of year I prefer it to Tampa, which is a good 6-8F hotter all this week.
It all has to do with the direction of the wind. If winds are from the east then the west coast is the hottest with the east coast seeing slightly below average temperatures. If winds are from west than the opposite occurs with the heat over the east coast metro and the west coast enjoys cooler temperatures. When winds are light and variable as they often are during then summer, then sea breezes cool off the coastal areas and push the heat inland keeping the everglades the hottest.
Today will be the last cool day as we begin our warm up peaking out by saturday at 90 degrees. The dry weather continues along with dew points well below 70f. This could be one of the latest starts to rainy season in a long time with sunshine all the way to the end of the forecast period.
3PM temps today according tothe RPM model for Chicagoland. Onle 61F/16C or less, on the lakeshore, 85F/29C at ORD
Already off at MDW which at noon it's 82 degrees at that site
Impressive contrast. I thought Boston had a big contrast. Ours is not as quick 61°F in Boston (right by ocean), 69°F ten miles west. 74°F forty northwest. 77°F here (roughly 80 miles west).

It's up to 88F at MDW now... Just 64 degrees downtown
And again, Chicopee is the warmest place north of DC
Actually that's Westfield. Chicopee was 76 at the time. But the next hourly report CEF was indeed the warmest spot. Hitting 79F. That northern Valley area is nuts. Like you said you have to go down to Virginia to find 79.
I always talk about moving to Vermont but I'm seeing how they are warmer than here in the Spring. I'm happy with my 60s/low 70s here. The dewpoints in the 40s is the Cherry on the cake this year. This is not normal for us here.
